RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Associate Producer will assist the Executive Producer in putting the program together. Duties include writing, editing, organizing scripts, managing cast requirements, and may also do minor creative decisions. Required competencies include good writing and editing skills. minimal supervision, can make simple editorial/creative decisions especially when editing, scriptwriting and/or qualifying shots that make the copy. The Associate Producer may also pitch content ideas, help guide the editorial content of the program, assist with the promotions and handle some administrative requirements of the program. The role may also have the responsibility for assisting with the show's webpage.

    Responsibilities:
    1. Prepares the PCR and submits the same to the EP for approval
    2. Assists the EP in screening, editing and evaluating scripts submitted by Segment Producers based on program concept, branding and equity, and in accordance with production, broadcast and ethical standards
    3. Substitutes for segment producers in their absence
    4. Oversees technical work during pre-taping, actual taping, and post production/mastering to ensure that various production elements engance the program's concept through appropriate audio and visual element
    5. Monitors if program running time is within prescribed limit
    6. Trims the edited segment/mastered episode if running time is exceeded in the absence of the EP
    7. Previews edited and mastered video material prior to telecast and ensures that shots put in the final edit are fir to be aired when assigned to do so by Executive Producer ("Fit" to mean no legal impediments, possessing proper attributions, courtesies, and sourcing, and complying with the NCAD Code of Ethics)
    8. Directly supervises the Production Coordinator(s) and Production Assistant(s)
    9. Monitors story coverage.program operations report prepared by Program Coordinator
    10. Monitors competition and identifies its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and reports these to the EP or personnel concerned
    11. Responsible for archiving episode (segment/spiel) scripts
    12. Attends weekly brainstorming meetings and submits viable topics/story suggestions for future episodes
    13. Recommends an appropriate technical production package for the program that is within budget
    14. Monitors the implementation of the program's standard operating procedures
    15. Monitors the performance of program personnel and reports exemplary work and/or discrepancies to the EI
    16. Monitors the efficiency of editors and segment producers in all post production tasks (i.e. editing speed, editing time vis-a-vis TFPO)
    17. Monitors id program running time is within prescribed limit
    18. Trims the edited segment/mastered episode if running time is exceeded in the absence of the EP
    19. Attends weekly brainstorming meetings and submits viable topics/story suggestions for future episodes
    20. Recommends an appropriate technical production package for the program that is within budget
    21. Monitors the implementation of the program's standard operating procedures
    22. Monitors the performance of program personnel and reports exemplary work and/or discrepancies to the EI
    23. Reviews (and rectifies if needed) financial/administrative documents prepared by the Program Coordinator
