Prior to the shutdown of its broadcast operations in 2020, ABS-CBN was the largest television network in the Philippines. As a radio broadcast company, it operated 22 radio stations including anchor radio stations in Mega Manila, DZMM and DWRR, in the AM and FM bands, respectively. 
 
The company delivers television programming outside of the Philippines to over 3 million viewers in North America, the Middle East, Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada, and other countries in Asia, through the internet and the Company’s global distribution platform, TFC, using DTH satellite service, cable television channels, IPTV, mobile applications and video streaming services. Its offerings are further complemented by subsidiaries focused on other multimedia services such as film production, music recording, telecommunications, and magazine and book publishing. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

    FOR CANNED SHOW/MATERIAL:

    • Edits/cures/re-purposes programming material in accordance to broadcast standards: good audio and video quality and devoid of discrepancies
    • Delivers gapping requirements or segmenting of bodies for movie/series, taking into consideration TRT requirements and creative flow of the narrative
    • Sanitizes (remove obscene or violent scenes) without compromising the story flow while adhering to the standards of MTRCB for general patronage
    • Pushes / dubs out programming material for airing in its correct settings/standards
    • Ensures that correct asset codes are assigned to pushed programming materials
    • Able to comply with the required number of edited materials required by Channel Manager (basis of this are the editing reports accomplished daily)
    • Able to accomplish necessary forms and reports to related programming materials such as: Telecast Guide, Correct TRT, Output Report (daily and weekly), logsheet/templates for edited materials
    • Ensure zero to minimal on-air discrepancies on-air discrepancies on assigned edited programming materials.
    • Performs IPOST editing process and workflow
    • Ensures the quality checking of edited titles for both pushed and dubout masters. For pushed materials (preview via DALET) for dub out to tapes (preview DVC)
    FOR LOCAL PRODUCTION:
    1. Lays in audio material in preparation for cut-to-cut editing
    2. Edits material in preparation for post-production
    3. Dubs final product to be aired
    4. Assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer
    5. Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronising and storing them into files on the computer
    6. Digitally cutting the files to determine the sequence of the film and determining what is usable.
    7. Creating a 'rough cut' of the programme/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
    8. Re-ordering and tweaking the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the video
    9. Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and vision engineering and editing. Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements
    10. Selecting the most effective shot of a scene in terms of drama, story relevance or continuity

REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Graduate of a 4-year media, film, IT or art degree
    • Work experience – fresh grad acceptable
    • Has knowledge of basic principles of sound, music, graphic art, color, lay-outing, etc
    • Attuned to the latest trends in broadcast design
    • Able to master video editing software
    • Able to understand storytelling techniques
