BUSINESS SUMMARY
ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) was originally established in 1996 as SNN, the Sarimanok News Network. SNN was the brainchild of the late Eugenio "Geny" Lopez Jr. who envisioned a TV station that would become the Filipinos' primary source of news and information. Geny believed that with SNN, he was bridging geographical gaps separating Filipinos or in his own words "building bridges on the air."
SNN began airing on SKY Cable Channel 21 on May 1, 1996. Back then the channel served viewers the top stories of the day via two major newscasts - Dateline Philippines and Primetime News while short news advisories aired throughout the day.
To enhance its resources and strengthen its position as THE news channel for Filipinos, SNN in 1998 joined forces with SKY Cable News, another Lopez-owned channel that specialized in business news reporting. The merger of the two stations paved the way for the formation of the Philippines' first, 24/7 news and current affairs channel offering the latest in domestic and international news, business information, sports and weather updates and lifestyle features. In 1999 the station changed its name to ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
Today ANC has firmly established its identity as an accurate and unbiased source of information and the go-to station for breaking news, wall-to-wall live news coverage and analysis with context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of Plugs
- Creation of asset codes
- Scheduling and monitoring of plugs every day
- Receiving of plugs from blocktimers
- Coordinating with CCM regarding the status of the production of plugs
- Coordinating with TOC for tagging and preview of plugs; direct communication with TOC Switcher for immediate airing and on putting on hold of the plugs
- Weekly deletion of plugs
- Requesting of cross-plug promotion on the other platforms/channels
Production of Bulletin Board Announcements
- Receiving of bulletin board requests
- Drafting of the announcements
- Coordinating with the editor for the production of bulletin boards
- Monitoring and management of the airing schedules of the bulletin board announcement
- Upon request, will provide the airing schedules and screen grabs of the bulletin board announcement
Receiving of Acquired Documentaries
- Downloading/receiving of the documentaries via FTP client or Aspera Connect.
- Coordinating with the editor for repurposing, editing, and subtitling of the documentary
- Monitoring and scheduling of the documentaries based on the contract
Pushing of Program Materials
- Monitoring/receiving of the program materials via shared folders
- Pushing of the program materials to Etere Web (TOC Playout System); monitors until the program materials are tagged and previewed
Archiving of Program Materials
- Sending/coordinating of the master copies of different program materials to Big Dipper, or via shared folder for archiving
- Turnover of hard drives for archiving
REQUIREMENTS
Preferably with experience in news production and administrative tasks.
