BUSINESS SUMMARY

Prior to the shutdown of its broadcast operations in 2020, ABS-CBN was the largest television network in the Philippines. As a radio broadcast company, it operated 22 radio stations including anchor radio stations in Mega Manila, DZMM and DWRR, in the AM and FM bands, respectively.
The company delivers television programming outside of the Philippines to over 3 million viewers in North America, the Middle East, Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada, and other countries in Asia, through the internet and the Company’s global distribution platform, TFC, using DTH satellite service, cable television channels, IPTV, mobile applications and video streaming services. Its offerings are further complemented by subsidiaries focused on other multimedia services such as film production, music recording, telecommunications, and magazine and book publishing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Section Editor will write and copy edit text articles, including text added to videos and images. He will prepare edited content (text or video) for mobile services, and will choose what content to push to MOBILE subscribers.
Duties and Responsibilities
a. Ensures that key sections of the site are updated with latest content
i. Selects video packages from material aired on TV, repurposes, optimizes and nominates same edited content to syndication partners, mobile, wap, and other platforms
b. Responsible for editing and publishing all types of content published in key news sections
i. Tags stories according to key subject matters, towards facilitating other ways to organize content
ii. Add links to related content within and outside the site and other graphics towards enhancing user experience
iii. Copy edits all the text-related content, including (a) all-text articles (b) text added to videos (c) others
iv. Do rough edits on raw videos
c. Selects and pushes content to other platforms, responsible for recommending and implementing improvements on assigned section. May be assigned to write section outlook if deputy editor is not on duty
d. Ensure that the video packages (already nicely edited by production staff of TV) from TV Patrol, CA and ANC are all in.
e. Ensures that all content published follow best practices in digital publishing
REQUIREMENTS
- Has excellent copy editing and writing skills.
- Has excellent news sense for content pushed to online and mobile platforms.
- Familiar with online platform. Preferably has presence in social media.
- Skilled not only in text, but also in video, graphics, and multimedia presentations
