ABS – CBN Career Talk Series: PUP Sta. Mesa and Malayan Colleges Laguna

The Corporate Recruitment Team has launched a series_x000D_ of career talks with universities and colleges to help the graduating students_x000D_ decide on which career path to take and prepare them for job interviews and_x000D_ other work – related challenges. It was also an opportune time for the team to re-introduce_x000D_ ABS – CBN as one of the country’s leading corporations and as a top-of-mind_x000D_ company that provides opportunities for career advancement.  For the first quarter of 2016, the Corporate_x000D_ Recruitment Team, together with TV Production, visited PUP Sta. Mesa and_x000D_ Malayan Colleges – Laguna to speak with Mass Communication, AB English and_x000D_ Engineering students regarding the rewards of working in the TV production_x000D_ scene.

With the assistance of PUP’s Career Development Placement_x000D_ Office, an exclusive ABS – CBN career talk was held at the school’s auditorium_x000D_ last February 5. Mr. Mark Gile, Production Manager, and Ms. Jeng Faraon, HR_x000D_ Head of TV Production, discussed with over a hundred Mass Communication and AB_x000D_ English undergraduates and graduating students the perks and fulfillment of_x000D_ working in TV production, as well as the current career opportunities in the_x000D_ department. Mark shared how he started as a production assistant and worked his_x000D_ way up the corporate ladder during his 16- year tenure with the company. He_x000D_ also shared that his desire to improve his living condition and provide for his_x000D_ family has kept him motivated to be at his best performance always. At the end_x000D_ of the talk, Mark received several questions from students who were eager to_x000D_ further understand the TV production business and responsibilities of a staff_x000D_ member. The students also enjoyed the trivia contest regarding the company as winners_x000D_ received ABS CBN freebies such as shirt, notebooks and notepads. 
 

Malayan Colleges – Laguna

ABS-CBN was invited to conduct a career talk on March 17_x000D_ with Malayan College’s engineering students regarding the importance of self -_x000D_ confidence and assertiveness in the work place. Mr. McCoy Tarnate,_x000D_ Cinematographer and Lighting Director, and Mr. Eric Navarro, Technical_x000D_ Director, began their presentation with an audio-visual presentation on the_x000D_ history or ABS CBN. With reference to company history, McCoy emphasized that self_x000D_ -assertion during difficult situations and confidence in making tough decisions_x000D_ are key to thriving not just in the corporate world but, in our day to day_x000D_ living too. He pointed out that former Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Geny “Kapitan”_x000D_ Lopez Jr. was able to rebuild ABS – CBN after Martial Law because he asserted_x000D_ his rights as a free person and fought for the re-acquisition of the company._x000D_ Kapitan also had faith and confidence in his leadership and in his people and,_x000D_ that is how ABS CBN grew to become one of the most admired companies in the_x000D_ country today. McCoy advised the graduating students that confidence in one’_x000D_ skills will not only get the job done but, will also propel them into reaching_x000D_ their professional and personal goals.
