TEN REASONS WHY IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE A KAPAMILYA SPORTS FAN

Filipinos are very passionate about sports and the heroes they get to see in those very events.Fortunately, ABS-CBN Integrated Sports — the sports division of the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company — has been hard at work to provide Kapamilya sports fans their money' worth and more, with new acquisitions, old favorites, and bigger coverage of sporting events. With a goal of helping promote sports and sports development in the country, ABS-CBN Sports is truly on a roll and in the zone… and Pinoy sports fans are not complaining.

Let us count the ways why it' a fine time to be a Kapamilya sports fan.

1.) Alyssa Valdez' swan song in the UAAP

Alyssa Valdez looks to win one more title before graduation.

Ever since the popularity boom of UAAP Volleyball (yes, we have not forgotten the almost-empty Blue Eagle Gym and UP CHK Gym era of UAAP volleyball), the second semester-sport has been one that people looked forward to. And without a doubt, the biggest star it has produced is Alyssa Valdez.

This year, the reigning senior women' MVP is headed for her last championship series, where she may end up going against fellow graduating stars like Ara Galang and Mika Reyes. It would be the fifth time they would duel in the final round, but a resurging FEU squad is eager to shake things up. But the women' tourney is not just the one with all the drama and action. The men' volleyball tournament, led by champion team Ateneo Blue Eagles, is also gaining a following, thanks to the television coverage of their matches.

So, will Alyssa Valdez close her collegiate career with a huge bang and a three-peat? Who will rise to bring the men' volleyball tournament to greater heights? There' only one way to find out. And that' to tune in to all the remaining matches of UAAP Season 78 Volleyball on ABS-CBN Sports + Action, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting 2pm.

2.) The 2015-2016 NBA Playoffs on “NBA sa ABS-CBN”

The best basketball league in the globe, on the best free TV channel dedicated to sports. The marriage couldn’t have been any better, right? What' even better is that the Kapamilya network incorporated local commentators led by Filipino basketball legends Ronnie Magsanoc and Benjie Paras and ABS-CBN Sports’ Boom Gonzalez and TJ Manotoc, to serve everyone that distinct Filipino flavor. Thanks to “NBA sa ABS-CBN,” we bore witness to the Black Mamba' last game, and even before that, we saw the Spurs’ obliteration of the Heat in the 2014 Finals, and watched the Warriors ascend to the throne last season after 40 years of futility. Can it get any better than that? Hell yes, because this year, we’ll get our daily fix of NBA Playoffs action! The NBA Playoffs coverage start today (April 17) and will continue on a daily basis until the Finals! The Azkals have been leading the charge for football to gain recognition in the country.

When they were down 2-1 against a formidable North Korea team last March, people were close to giving up. The Azkals’ backline was far from World Cup-level and they had problems moving the ball forward. But something, somehow, just clicked. Mere moments later, we were all jovially ramping up our cheers as we watched the Azkals headed for a 3-2 victory lap against one of the Asian giants on ABS-CBN Sports + Action. Tell us you did not enjoy that? And not only that, but Philippine football as a whole has been moving forward with the Kapamilya network' airing of the ongoing AFC Cup, also on ABS-CBN Sports + Action. But that' not all.
