TIP | 5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR RESUME STAND OUT

Your resume is a crucial part when looking for a job. A recruiter can scan it for as short as 30 seconds, so how do you make sure you catch their attention in that short amount of time? Here are 5 ways to make your resume stand out.

Make sure your resume is error free

Nothing puts off a recruiter more than errors on your resume. It immediately gives the impression of you not being detail-oriented and lazy. So before your submit your resume, proofread!

Include accomplishments

Instead of writing lengthy descriptions of what your previous job was about, write down your accomplishments. A good example is listing specific projects that you have handled and include how you were able to complete them within the given metrics.

Tailor your resume to the job

Have you ever sent the same generic resume to all the jobs you were applying for? You shouldn’t. You will have a better chance of getting that call if you make your objective and accomplishments relevant to the position you are applying for, as well as skills, work experiences, or certifications.

Bullet points are key

Using bullet points instead of long paragraphs makes your resume easier to read and digest. Remember, an HR person may only have less than a minute to review your resume, so make sure every second counts.

Keep it simple

Avoid using fancy fonts, keep your resume professional, and avoid irrelevant information. Also, it is important to note that you should never include false information just to make your resume look good. Most companies have background checks and it will be found out sooner or later.

Remember, submitting a well-presented resume is the first step to your dream job. Happy job-hunting!
