KAPAMILYA SPOTLIGHT | EL3: WE MUST SERVE WITH LOVE

ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez was honored with the Kapamilya Lifetime Achievement Award and imparted a heartfelt message to the community: to continue to serve with love.

“When we serve, we must serve with love,” said Lopez. “Service without love is a chore. A job. An obligation. Service with love is a mission, and our mission is to be of service to the Filipino. It is only by loving the Filipino that we can do our mission decade after decade, generation after generation. The theme of our Christmas station ID sums it up into two words: JUST LOVE.”

Looking forward to another 30 years, he said “I expect that ABS should be a totally diff company. Who can say what the cloud, a device in every pocket, artificial intelligence, and millennials will evolve to. Hindi natin alam. Ang alam lang natin magbabago ang ABS-CBN. In fact, I say boldly embrace and at the same time create change, but make sure it is in the service of the Filipino. This is our unchanging core which grounds and guides us amid the frenzy and flurry and dislocation.”

He also paid tribute to his father during his speech, “To our Kapitan and my father Eugenio Lopez Jr, I say again, dad this is for you. Thank you for allowing me to share in the precarious future we face together in 1986. And I know that the ABS of 2046 will only once more prove that we are worthy of your dream, and hope to make you proud as ever,” he said.

Held at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent at Vertis North, Quezon City, the Kapamilya Awards is an annual event where in employees are awarded for their years of service. This year, more than a thousand employees were honored and recognized.

Bamboo, Daryl, Kyla, Angeline Quinto, Erik Santos, Jay-R, Morisette Amon, and Jona Marie were among the celebrities who performed. This year's event was hosted by Xian Lim and Jodi Sta. Maria.
