ABS-CBN TRIUMPHS AT 1ST DANGAL NG BAYAN MEDIA EXCELLENCE AWARDS

ABS-CBN’s outstanding contribution to social change by upholding values in various disciplines was widely recognized in the 1st Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Awards by the National College of Science and Technology (NCST) as the network’s top shows and personalities raked in a total of 8 recognitions.

Each earning a Media Excellence Award were the network’s various programs including its flagship national news program “TV Patrol,” for News and Current Affairs; ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.’s emergency humanitarian assistance program Operation Sagip (formerly known as Sagip Kapamilya), for Public Service; investigative-docudrama television series “SOCO,” for Criminology; weekly science-educational show “Matanglawin,” for Education; business public service program “My Puhunan,” for Business; and the longest-running Philippine drama anthology series “Maalala Mo Kaya,” for Psychology.

The award giving body also recognized ABS-CBN personalities such as Dr. Carl Balita, host of business-oriented radio show “Radyo Negosyo” on ABS-CBN’s radio news channel DZMM with a Media Excellence Award for Radio Broadcasting; while primetime king Coco Martin, was given the “Model Actor for Criminology” award for his exemplary performance in primetime hit FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano.” - Launched recently in honor of the NCST’s 20th founding anniversary, the awards ceremony “recognizes the outstanding body of work of different media practitioners that correspond to the values upheld by NCST’s current curricular offerings.”
