POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for capturing, editing, and transmitting high-quality news footage and images from the field and studio locations using both traditional and emerging technologies for all Integrated News Platforms. The role involves having a strong grasp of storytelling, technical troubleshooting, and field production workflows to ensure timely, engaging, and editorially sound content delivery.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
1. Capture high-quality video footage of events, interviews, and breaking news using professional-grade equipment.
2. Execute effective lighting setups, including 3-point lighting and reflector use, to suit various shooting environments.
3. Compose visually compelling shots based on story objectives and editorial focus.
4. Collaborate with reporters and producers to align visuals with narrative goals. In the absence of a reporter, will send basic news summary of captured content.
5. Capture supplemental B-roll footage to enrich storytelling.
6. Set up and operate non-conventional transmission methods including:
- Portable satellite connections
- HSDPA and public WiFi internet setups
- Ethernet-based transfers
7. Deploy mobile editing systems in the field for quick-turnaround content delivery.
8. Ingest and assemble edited video packages using non-linear editing tools.
9. Troubleshoot camera, audio, and transmission issues independently in remote or high-pressure settings.
10. Interpret creative direction from producers/directors to meet story requirements.
11. Coordinate closely with newsroom teams to meet broadcast or digital deadlines.
12. Ensure footage meets technical and editorial standards, including compliance with media laws and safety protocols.
13. Transport, maintain, and secure all assigned field equipment.
14. Identify and recommend equipment and accessories based on coverage needs.
15. Archive and label footage in accordance with company policy for future access.
