The News and Verification Researcher acquires, collates, processes, verifies, and analyzes information and data from various sources; and translates these into various materials/products that could be used by all platforms. He/She also manages and handles factchecking initiatives and grants.

1. Acquires, collates, processes, verifies, and analyzes data and information from public and private sources for database building and for reports/stories of all platforms, including from citizen journalists
2. Performs intensive investigative research on assigned topics inclusive of, but not limited to the following: related documents, case studies, pertinent video content and usergenerated content.
3. Leads fact checking of content on social media and on the internet, and manages factchecking initiatives.
4. Maintains/updates Newspedia and databases of the unit; files and archives research materials and data sets.
5. Maintains a network of sources and partners from data repository agencies of government, civil society, academic and research institutions, business and industry groups and citizen journalists.
6. Provides fact-check support for stories, particularly for, but not limited to, investigative and special reports.
7. Keeps abreast of the latest technology and innovations in the fields of research, data journalism and citizen journalism, and apply these in the performance of his/her duties.
8. Provides logistical and administrative support to the unit.
9. Attends and actively participates in the weekly brainstorming meetings and submits viable topics/story suggestions for future episodes.
10. Perform other functions as assigned related to the objectives of the unit.
